Mauricio “Moe” Marquez is a by-product of the Boys Clubs of America (what we know now as Boys and Girls Clubs of America). He was a member of the Eastside San Jose Boys Club for eight years, later became a volunteer there in college and ultimately became a staff member for the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Silicon Valley. Mauricio began as an Athletic Assistant, then Athletic Director and finally became a Unit Director in the late 1990s.
Mauricio has recently completed his coursework for his Master’s Degree in Counseling Education from San Jose State University—where he also did his undergraduate work in Social Science. Since leaving the club some five years ago, Mauricio has worked for other non-profit organizations focusing on empowering youth from disadvantaged communities throughout the greater San Jose area and also was a substitute teacher. During his spare time, Mauricio enjoys: Raiders/Giants/A’s/Warriors games, concerts, cultural events, spending time with family and friends and eating barbecue. |
