| Thank you for considering a gift to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula. Below are a number of examples of how your support can make a difference. Our priorities for this year are to maintain our current programs upon which so many children and families depend.
The club has evolved greatly since 2000. We have grown from 3 sites to 8 sites and almost tripled the number of youth served. We built a new clubhouse in East Palo Alto and rebuilt the clubhouse in Menlo Park. We enhanced our Center for a New Generation program and now run it at 5 school sites. To make this possible, our operating budget has grown from $3 million to $5.5 million last year. In light of the recent economic uncertainty, we have reduced expenses this year to $4.9 million. We were able to do this without closing programs or reducing staffing. Approximately half ot the investment required to maintain the Club's programs and services this year must come from the community - from people like you. The remainder is provided largely through grants from the Club's Public Partners and other foundations. It is for this reason that we launched BE GREAT...DONATE!, our 2010 Annual Campaign.
BE GREAT…DONATE! aims to raise $2.5 million to maintain critically-needed Club programs. Believing that every child has the potential to BE GREAT, our staff and volunteers provide our community's youth with daily, caring, adult guidance, a place to belong, and the skills they need to succeed in life.
