Item: Background checks for 10 volunteers or staff .................................................................Cost: $100

Description: All staff members and volunteers at the The Clubs must be cleared through a Background check. These checks cost approximately $10 each Your donation of $100 will cover the cost of 10 checks and help to ensure that our youth continue to be safe.

Item: Membership Fee Scholarships - Full Year............................................................................ Cost: $ 100

Description: It costs approximately $1600 for the Clubs to serve one youth for a year. Member families contribute about $100 of this though 30% of our members - about 1,000 - can not afford even the Member fee. We provide these youth with scholarships.

Item: Art Supplies for a Week.......................................................................................................... Cost: $ 100

Description: Art is a popular activity at the Clubs. A variety of supplies are needed for Open Studio and other courses. The average cost of art supplies for 1 week is $100.

Item: 10 stacking plastic chairs - durable.................................................................................... Cost: $ 200

Description: Many of the chairs in the clubhouses are broken or in poor condition. We would like to replace the chairs with durable stacking plastic chairs.

Item: Athletics Coach Stipend.......................................................................................................... Cost: $ 500

Description: More than 700 youth participate in the clubs Athletics programs. Our staff relies on volunteer coaches though in order to meet the need sufficiently, we must offer modest stipends of $500 per quarter.

Item: 100 Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula Member T-Shirts........................................... Cost: $ 500

Description: Many youth just want to belong - to something. The Clubs give them a positive alternative to gangs. As members of the Clubs, each member receives a t-shirt. Your gift of $500 would provide shirts for 100 members.

Item: Wrestling Mats........................................................................................................................ Cost: $ 600

Description: Our members would like to learn the sport of wrestling. Your donation would all the clubs to purchase the matts necessary for this program.

Item: Bus Rental for Fieldtrips....................................................................................................... Cost: $ 600

Description: Many clubs members have rarely been out of their immediate neighborhoods. The clubs host a variety of field trips throughout the year to educational and recreational destinations including museums, parks and even Disneyland . For larger trips of 45 or more youth, we rent buses. These trips result in memories that last a lifetime.

Item: Athletics League Uniforms for 20 players.......................................................................... Cost: $ 600

Description: The Clubs host organized Athletics Leagues in sports including Soccer and Basketball. For many youth this is their opportunity to play. Teams play against other Clubs and youth groups. We would like each player to receive a uniform which for the shorts and jersey cost approximately $30.

Item: Awards and Incentives for Achievement Matters program........................................... Cost: $ 750

Description: In 2004, the Clubs launched Achievement Matters, a unique recognition program for youth demonstrating leadership and excelling in school. Funding for the program through Boys & Girls Clubs of America recently stopped though we believe the program is important and want to keep it going.

Item: Teen Staff Stipend .................................................................................................................Cost: $1,000

Description: The Clubs have done a much better job of engaging teens in recent years. Many of the teens want jobs. By hiring Teen Staff, we accomplish this and provide excellent role models for younger youth

Item: Books for Literacy Activities............................................................................................. Cost: $1,000

Description: A major focus of the Clubs is literacy. Research has shown that if a child is not able to read and write appropriately by 3rd grade then the likelyhood that they will not graduate from high school is greatly increased. The clubs purchase a wide range of books to help youth and parents with reading.

Item: Member Scholarship............................................................................................................ Cost: $1,500

Description: It costs the clubs approximately $1,600 to provide safety and support to one youth for one year. Member families contribute $100 of this amount. The rest is made possible with gifts and grants from the community.

Item: 15' to 20' Flatbed Trailer for Parade Float.................................................................... Cost: $2,000

Description: Our staff and members are interested in participating in a number of parades. This trailer would enable each of our sites to prepare floats for various community celebrations. The donor granting this wish would recognized with signage on the trailer at each event.

Item: Gym Floor Cover............................................................................................................ Cost: $4,500

Description: Each of our three clubhouses have large gymnasiums. The gyms are also used for special events though to prevent damage to the floors it is important that we cover them with durable material.

Description: For safety reasons, many of our members require transportation from school or home at night. In addition, vans are needed on weekends to take youth on field trips to educational and other destinations.
