Club Seeking Women to Serve as Girls Day Mentors

This Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula is hosting Girls Day on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the Mervin G. Morris Clubhouse. We need 90 professional women 21 and older to inspire a young girl in this community. We welcome women from every industry! Girls Day is an annual event that aims to provide young girls with a glimpse of what they can be when they grow up. It is a day for each girl to admire an older female for the achievements she has accomplished in her respective college or professional career. We will pair each female volunteer with one female club member in the 7th or 8th grade. The girls and their respective mentors will spend the whole day together. Together they will participate in various activities including: goal setting, leadership, careers, sisterhood, self-esteem, Taking care of your body, Dance, solving problems as a group and engaging in fun ice-breaker activities. Lunch and a live performance will be included.  This is a great way to build a different rapport with your co-workers, bosses, friends and family. Share the excitement with others by including them on this invitation!
