Individual and Family Volunteering
Are you interested in working alongside our incredible staff to help run fun, engaging and impactful programming? Can you commit even a few hours a week? Here are ways to get involved:
Program Support
Support BGCP students with homework and academics. You’ll work with individuals or small groups once a week. Sessions run from Monday to Thursday, between 3:00-6:00 PM. You must be 14 or older to participate in this opportunity.
Commitment: We ask for a commitment of at least one hour per week on a consistent day for a minimum of 6 weeks.
Program: BGCP School Year (September - May)
Application: Rolling
Barry Carr Sports League (BCSL)
Work consistently with students as a sports coach during the week, typically after 3:00 PM, and on Saturday mornings. This could also involve volunteering with our sports teams 1-2 times per week with activities such as scoring, timekeeping, refereeing, and more.
Commitment: Varies based on volunteer support.
Program: BGCP School Year (September - May)
Application: Rolling
Future Grads Coaching
Work on a weekly to bi-weekly, consistent basis with a BGCP High School Senior, whom you will be matched with for the duration of your coaching time to guide them through the college application process. You must be 18 or older to participate in this opportunity.
Commitment: Seven months
Program: August - February
Application: Opens late February
Summer Teen Internship
Help with academic and enrichment classroom support for our summer programs.This opportunity is open to rising High School Freshmen through Seniors who are 14 and older.
Commitment: A minimum of 3 weeks during the summer, Monday - Friday, from either 8:00 am - 12:00 pm, 1:00 - 5:00 pm, or both is required.
Program: June - July

Special Events
Join us for one-time volunteer events like Fun Friday Carnivals, holiday celebrations, or career exploration opportunities! These are perfect for families or groups looking to get involved together. We’re happy to tailor the experience to match your interests or expertise.
Commitment and timing varies based on group and team needs.
Second Harvest Food Distribution
Come help us bag up groceries and distribute them either to cars in a drive through or at our walk-up tent at our East Palo Alto Clubhouse! This is an amazing way to directly help and make an immediate impact on our community.
Commitment: These events typically run from 4-6:30pm every other Friday. Whether you can help out once or every time, we’d love to have you!

To intern or volunteer with us, for ages 14 or older, you must have a Social Security Number (SSN) and be able to complete a background check. These requirements help us ensure a safe and welcoming space for our youth.
Group and Corporate Volunteering
Looking for fun, team-bonding, in-person way to serve the community together as a team?
